Leagues

We offer a large variety of leagues that accommodate a wide range of curlers. So, whether you’re a recreational player or someone competitive; if you’re 6, 106 or somewhere in-between, the Alliston Curling Club is sure to have a league suitable for you.

Doubles is a slightly different variation
of a regular curling game in that it allows
both players to take a very active role in
strategy determination, and there are
usually more draw shots than take-outs.
The mixed doubles format is an Olympic
sport, but very popular with most curling
clubs using the open gender format, with
sweeping optional.
Two people, of the same or mixed
gender, form a team. Throwing a total of
5 rocks per end for 8 ends, the games
usually last about 90 minutes. You will
have the option of selecting your own
partner to curl with each week, or you
can use our jitney method, whereby we
match you up with someone different
each week.
There is no requirement to play every
week. Just show up, and we provide
instruction on the rules and strategy.
Stick curlers are always welcome.
All age groups are thrilled with this
format, and we had many “regulars” who
enjoyed playing this last year. I can’t
recall anyone who tried it that didn’t like
it, so come out and see why!
Contact us if you have any questions.

We are a recreational women's jitney
league where curlers of all skill levels
are welcome.
Teams are drawn weekly, which
provides a great opportunity to play
positions that you might normally shy
away from. No pressure – just good fun
and friendly competition.
Come out and encourage other ladies to
join us. What better way to spend
Monday afternoons!
Look forward to seeing our return
players and many new faces.

Plays with high school teams from BMHS or NPSS on Mondays 3 to 5 pm.  Coaching provided by community coaches.

Hello to all returning and possible new Monday Night Curlers.

Monday Night Men’s will continue with the format used that last couple seasons which all based on feedback seem to enjoy. We had 4 draws with 6 teams per draw. This format allowed for opportunity for all participants to meet and play with different people throughout the season. Fun included draws to button for all the first week, and that measurement affected standings throughout the year breaking ties. Individuals accumulated points earned per draw working towards a point determined “All Star Team”. All participants agreed they had a great year with this format. The 2026/27 season will have the same format and we hope to include new participants coming over from Friday night social league, as well as junior boys joining the fun to gain exposure and experience playing against the men. Year end fun included 1 on 1 tournament and we will continue this as well as men’s doubles tournament Looking forward to seeing all soon enjoy the rest off your summer.

Tuesday afternoon open league curling is an ideal activity for those who do not like to drive at night, or perhaps those who do shiftwork.

We use a jitney format, so there are no set teams and no requirement to play every week.

Please arrive no later than 11:45 am so we can make up the teams and be on the ice by 12pm noon.

Pre-game practice is encouraged for those ready to go early. Stick curlers are always welcome!

If fellowship and daytime curling are what you crave, please join us

Contact Loeland or Bryan if you have any questions.

We hope you are all having a wonderful
summer! Planning is underway for the
2026/27 curling season. We are looking
forward to seeing old friends, and
welcoming new ones, on Tuesday nights
when the league commences in October.
Tuesday Night CYO is the perfect
mixture of fun and competition.
Regardless of your curling experience,
Tuesday night is a great time to sharpen
your skills and share in some
competitive fun with a group of great
people. Teams can be mixed and composed of adults of any/all genders,
and juniors (12+).
We look forward to the return of
previous Tuesday night teams, and we
welcome new members and teams. If
you do not have a team but wish to join
the league, please contact us ASAP and
we will try to connect you with other
curlers to form a team. If you are a skip
and have a partial team, and are looking
for players, please let us know so we can
attempt to match you with players
looking for a team.
We are hoping to have at least sixteen
teams registered for Tuesday nights for
the upcoming season. If you have never
played Tuesday nights before, or you
have been absent for a number of years,
come give us a try for the 2026/2027
season. It’s a great opportunity to form a
fun team with your friends. We also
have an epic year end banquet!!
If you have any suggestions for
improvements to the Tuesday night
league, your input is always welcome.
We look forward to seeing you all for the
2026/27 Tuesday night curling season!

Please join us for a fun night of Doubles
Curling. Submit a team or join as a
single and we will find you a team.
Last year we had 2 full draws. Draw 1 at
6 pm and draw 2 at 7:30 pm.
Accommodations can be made if you
have trouble making a draw time.
No doubles experience is required.
Doubles is a great game, and it only
takes 16 people to fill one draw sheet, so
don't hesitate to join!
Any questions, please let me know.

We had a fun competitive curling season
last year; thanks to all of you who made
it so!

Although this league is designed for club
teams that enjoy the competitiveness of
the league, new teams wanting to
measure their abilities are also welcome.
This season, if we have sufficient teams to bring the count to at least 16, an A and
B division will be created to provide an
opportunity for newer, less experienced
teams to grow in the sport while playing
with their friends.
Any new teams wanting to join, please
let me know well in advance. If you
were in the league last year, also please
let me know your intentions ASAP.
To accommodate players who intend to
be snowbirds, we will allow new
teams/players to replace travelling
teams/players post-Christmas break. I
believe this will make our league more
inclusive, and will attract half-season
participants. Please make me aware of
possible post-Christmas changes so I can
plan accordingly.
Should you wish to curl in our CYO
league and do not have a team, please
contact me and I will endeavor to find a
team for you if possible.
Looking forward to seeing you on
Thursday nights!

This new league will be a fun league
open to curlers of all ages and
abilities. It will be a drop-in jitney style
league where teams (of 3 or 4 curlers
expected) will be made up each week
based on who attends on a given day. 8

end games are planned within the two-
hour time slot available. Please arrive at

least 15 minutes early so teams can be
arranged (based on a draw process). We
are looking forward to having a fun mix
of curlers participating!
This new league will provide an
opportunity for daytime members to curl
on Thursday mornings instead of in the
traditional Thursday noon jitney.
Daytime curlers are welcome to sign up
for both leagues (and register for
membership accordingly, i.e., 2-day,
unlimited daytime or unlimited as
applicable) and then choose on a weekly
basis which league to play in depending
on their own personal schedule.
However, it will not be possible to play
back-to-back in both the Thursday
morning and afternoon leagues on the
same day.

Welcome to the 2026-27 Friday Night
Mixed league. The Friday Night Mixed
League is a fun, non-competitive, social
night of curling. Friday Nights are ideal
for new curlers, so if you know anyone
who wants to curl, convince them to give
it a try. We’re all there to have a good
time and help new curlers learn the
game.
This year we are looking forward to the
return of last year’s members, and
hopefully more new curlers. Register
early - space is limited.
We will once again have music on the
ice (playlist created by Friday night
curlers), the weekly 50/50 draw, theme
nights, mid-season, and year-end social
evenings.
If you’re looking for a relaxed, fun night
of curling join us on Friday nights. If
you have any inquiries about the league,
contact me or Anne, by email below, and
we will answer any questions you may
have.
We look forward to seeing everyone
when the league starts up in October.

Welcome Junior Curlers! This year we
have two programs to offer: Little
Rockers, for kids ages 6 – 11; and
Recreational Juniors, for ages 12 – 18.
Both programs follow the Curling
Canada curriculum, and are led by
trained, Club Coach Youth instructors.
Our program runs on Sunday afternoons
starting at 12:00 pm and running through
to approximately 3:00 pm. We will
adjust the start and finish times based on
participation, age and skill levels in the
programs. Both programs are eligible for
half-year and full-year memberships.
Our program is designed to keep kids
active and engaged by moving them
through a variety of stations as they
develop the desired skills through fun
games, drills and activities. Each session
will consist of on-ice and off-ice warm
ups, safety reviews, and instruction,
culminating with short games where
participants can demonstrate their
learning. Our Little Rockers will use our
lighter-weight rocks and modified
houses as needed, while the Recreational
Juniors will play with the standard rocks
and full-length sheets.
To keep things interesting, we have
some special events planned throughout
the year, including the return of our very
popular Inter-club Bonspiel Days with
our neighbouring curling clubs. For kids
interested in a bit of competition, there
are opportunities to arrange matches
with competitive teams from nearby
clubs, or join in bonspiels hosted around
the region. As in previous years, the
opportunity for interested juniors to form
their own team and play in a more
structured format against other teams in
our region is a possibility. Although
there are additional costs to the bonspiel
events, we endeavour to keep costs to a
minimum and participation is not
mandatory. In keeping with tradition, we
will also offer our free friends and
family event to give the kids a chance to
show off their skills.
Getting kids started in curling is easy
and inexpensive! The club supplies all
the equipment required. All your kids
need are a clean pair of indoor running
shoes and a helmet (if under 12 years
old). Although helmets are not required
for participants age 12 and older, they
are still highly recommended.
If you are new to curling, join us for our
youth/family TRY Curling open house on September 30 from 7-9 pm. See
above for more information and a
registration link.

We are looking forward to seeing all the
Little Rockers and Juniors for some fun
Sunday Curling!

We have an Adult Learn To Curl membership category for those people wanting to try curling for a few weeks to see if they like it, and hopefully join the club for the second half of the season. This program is also open to new and second year members for on-going skills development.

The program will run for 6 Sundays (4-6 pm) starting Oct 26, excluding Nov 9.

The clinics are free for new and novice members. A $100 fee (deducted from second half season membership) applies for Adult Learn To Curl only members.

Following the success of last year’s Novice League, we are expanding the program this season to include all curlers with under five years of experience (U5).

This league will provide an opportunity for Adult Learn-To-Curl graduates and other newer curlers to ease into regular league play while continuing to learn, hone their skills and build confidence. It will also be a perfect opportunity for current “front-end players” to try their hand playing “back-end” positions. Participants will be encouraged to learn and play all positions, helping them become more well-rounded curlers and better prepared to integrate into regular league play.

This will continue to be a jitney-style league, with teams made up each week based on who attends. Please arrive by 2:45 pm to get your name in and allow time for teams to be organized before play begins.

The league will run Sundays from 3 to 5 pm beginning December 13. At the end of the season, we will also host a U5 Novice Bonspiel, providing a fun opportunity to celebrate everyone’s progress and enjoy some friendly competition.

Looking forward to another fun season of learning, curling and meeting new people!
