Curling doubles, also known as mixed doubles curling, is a dynamic and fast-paced variation of traditional curling. Played on the same ice rink, each team consists of only two players instead of the usual four. The game involves unique rules, such as starting with pre-positioned stones and having only five stones per end, which leads to a greater emphasis on strategy and precise shot-making. Unlike traditional curling, where sweeping is a significant aspect, mixed doubles places more importance on the players’ throwing accuracy and finesse. This format has gained popularity for its shorter, more intense matches, and has been included in major competitions like the Winter Olympics since 2018.
You will have the option of selecting your own partner to curl with each week, or you can use our jitney method, whereby we match you up with someone different each week.
There is no requirement to play every week. Just show up, and we provide instruction on the rules and strategy.
Contact Terry Pringle if you have any questions.

Update June 13, 2024 KO
Plays with high school teams from BMHS or NPSS on Mondays 3 to 5 pm. Coaching provided by community coaches.
Monday night men’s league is a fun night where teams are formed via a draft.
Please indicate what position you prefer to play. We have lots of skips, therefore it's a great league for newer curlers to fill in the ranks.
It is anticipated that the games will start at 7:00 p.m. unless we exceed 9 teams.
To those who cannot commit to every Monday; we will be open to having a position or two shared with one or more curlers, including those who would just like to come out occasionally to get extra ice time.
Contact John Shaw if you have any questions.

Update Oct 4, 2024 KO
Tuesday and Thursday afternoon open league curling is an ideal activity for those who do not like to drive at night, or perhaps those who do shiftwork.
We use a jitney format, so there are no set teams and no requirement to play every week.
Please arrive no later than 11:45 am so we can make up the teams and be on the ice by 12pm noon.
Pre-game practice is encouraged for those ready to go early. Stick curlers are always welcome!
If fellowship and daytime curling are what you crave, please join us

Tuesday Night CYO is the perfect mixture of fun and competition. Regardless of your curling experience, Tuesday night is a great time to sharpen your skills and share in some competitive fun with a group of great people. Teams can be mixed and composed of adults of any/all genders, and juniors (12+).
We look forward to the return of previous Tuesday night teams and we welcome new members and teams.
If you do not have a team but wish to join the league, please contact me ASAP and we will try to connect you with other curlers to form a team.

Update June 13, 2024 KO
Please join us for a fun night of doubles. Submit a team or join as a single and we will find you a team. The tentative plan is to have teams of 3 so each team has a spare.
Games will start at 7 p.m. A doubles game runs faster with only 5 rocks in play per team, so games are usually completed within 1-1/2 hours.
Wednesday night will be a great night to work on your draw weight, try your hand at skipping for your teammate, and have some fun! No doubles experience required!
It only takes 16 people to fill all the sheets, so don't hesitate to join!
Any questions, please let me know.

This league is designed for already established teams. I’m hearing of some new teams that are interested in joining this league. Please let me know ASAP if you have a new or returning team interested in having fun, fellowship and a bit of exciting competition.
To accommodate players who intend to be snowbirds, we will allow new teams/players to replace travelling teams/players post-Christmas break. I believe this will make our league more inclusive, and will attract half-season participants. Please make me aware of possible post-Christmas changes so I can plan accordingly. Should you wish to curl in our CYO league and do not have a team, please contact me and I will endeavour to find a team for you if possible.
The guidelines for the league with respect to time is: no end will begin after 8:40 on the first draw and past 10:55 on the late draw.
Looking forward to seeing you on Thursday nights!

We are introducing a new Choose Your Own league for curlers wanting to play during the day. This will be a great opportunity to play with your friends in a fun environment. If you are interested in playing in this new league but don’t have a team, please contact us.
Once a month, teams could consider organizing a post-game lunch at the club or going out together. Occasionally, there will be league dates cancelled due to outside events (e.g., Senior Ladies Interclub on January 11, 2025).
We do not have a convener for this league. Being a CYO league, convening requires less effort. If you are planning to play and willing to help organize, please let Laura know ([email protected]).

The Friday Night Mixed League is a fun, non-competitive, social night of curling. Friday Nights are ideal for new curlers, so if you know anyone who wants to curl, convince them to give it a try. We’re all there to have a good time and help new curlers learn the game.
This year we are looking forward to the return of last year’s members, more new curlers joining, as well as the return of some past members that previously curled on Friday nights. Register early, space is limited.
We will once again have music on the ice (playlist created by Friday night curlers), the weekly 50/50 draw, theme nights, mid-season, and year-end social evenings.
If you’re looking for a relaxed and fun night of curling, come out on Friday nights. If you have any inquiries about the league, contact me or Anne, by email below, we will answer any questions you may have.
We look forward to seeing everyone when the league starts up in October.

Welcome Back Juniors and Little Rockers! This year we have two programs to offer: Little Rockers, for kids ages 6 – 11; and Recreational Juniors, for ages 12 – 18. Both programs follow the Curling Canada curriculum, and are led by certified Club Coach Youth instructors. Our program runs on Sunday afternoons from noon to 3 pm (exact timing and format to be confirmed based on participants: Little Rockers versus Recreational Juniors). Both programs are eligible for half-year and full-year memberships.
Our program is designed to keep kids active and engaged by moving them through a variety of stations as they develop the desired skills through fun games, drills, and activities. Each session will consist of on-ice and off-ice warmups, safety reviews, and instruction, culminating with short games where participants can demonstrate their learning. Our Little Rockers will use our lighter-weight rocks and modified houses while the Recreational Juniors will play with the standard rocks and full-length sheets.
To keep things interesting, we have some special events planned throughout the year, including the return of our very popular Interclub Bonspiel Days with our neighbouring curling clubs. For kids interested in a bit of competition, there are opportunities to arrange matches with competitive teams from nearby clubs, or join in bonspiels hosted around the region. New this year is the opportunity for interested juniors to form their own team and play in a more structured format against other teams in our region. Although there are additional costs to these events, they are not mandatory. In keeping with tradition, we will also offer our free friends and family event to give the kids a chance to show off their skills.
Getting kids started in curling is easy and inexpensive! The curling club supplies all the equipment required. All your kids need are a clean pair of indoor running shoes and a helmet (if under 12 years old). Although helmets are not required for participants over age 12, they are still highly recommended.
We are looking forward to seeing all the Little Rockers and Juniors for some fun Sunday Curling!

The clinics are free for new and novice members. A $100 fee (deducted from second half season membership) applies for Adult Learn To Curl only members.
